Top 10 Failed Cartoon Pilots

Top 10 Failed Cartoon Pilots

1. Wacky Races Forever- Wacky Races was one of Hanna-Barbera's most popular franchises, and this reboot sure would've been a modern classic. The descendants of Wacky Races most outrageous characters continue the race their ancestors started. Best of all, Dastardly and Muttley are still the villains.

2. Verne on Vacation- Part of Cartoon Network EMEA's animation imtiative, this beautifully animated series was eventually chosen for some kind of project, but the information is unknown. Check out the short here. http://vimeo.com/22944555

3. Lakewood Plaza Turbo- This Cartoon Network pilot is out of the newest batch from the Burbank studio, and its pretty good. It has action, comedy, and is created by a great up and coming animator, Ian Jones-Quartey. Since Ian is working on Steven Universe, I'm guessing Lakewood Plaza Turbo is on hold for now.

.

4. Paranormal Roommates- Another pilot fresh out Burbank's oven, the short, created by Regular Show storyboard artist Benton Connor, depicts The Loch Ness Monster and Bigfoot as roommates living with a government agent. I really love Regular Show and think this could be a great series for the staff to go to when Regular show ends.
                           .

5. The Awesome Chronicles of Manny and Khan- Originally from Cartoon Network's planned Cartoonstitute, this pilot introduced a giant platypus and a grumpy leprechaun. The pilot had a real "bro" vibe that seems to be popular in cartoons these days. (See Adventure Time, Regular Show, Sanjay and Craig, Breadwinners, etc.)

6. Wizzard of Krudd- A Nickelodeon pilot from the creator of Robot Jones. I really enjoy the School House Rock type animation, and the pilot has a certain amount of charm. This would've been a different type of show for Nickelodeon but I definitely think it would've been great.

7. Zoot Rumpus- From a great animator Kaz, who's credits include Spongebob and Phineas and Ferb, did this pilot for Cartoon Network that didn't make the cut. Zoot is a likable character and I enjoyed the pilot. I wish Kaz would get his own series. http://vimeo.com/33689031
8. Pepe the Bull- A pilot shot for Disney by the creator of El Tigre, Pepe the Bull really seemed like it would be at home on Disney Channel. I love the animation and the writing. http://vimeo.com/9932141
9. Pinky Malinky-The pilot for this series just seems like something Cartoon Network would want to air. It's ridiculous, stupid, and so crazy it just works. I think this had real series potential. http://vimeo.com/23078774
10. Danger Planet- Another Cartoonstitute short with hidden potential, Danger Planet has to be one of the best pilots from the bunch. It had a 90s cartoon feel, modern animation, and likable characters and would've been a great series if it were order.
